Work head is the
third most important part of the machine when it
comes to accuracy and easy of getting the parts into
size. Studer work head is well built to take anywhere
from 70 KG to 150KG of part. You can have virtually no
play in it. There are several types of work head.
Universal work heads have multiple bearing and the cost
of the bearing alone is $9000/- These bearing last long
as long as it is purged with clean air.
Matching the work head:
Then work head has to be ground for
centerline height. It also has to be ground
to match your tailstock in the X direction.
Some work head has brake. The belt and the
tensions are critical for non round
grinding. The work head can run as live
spindle or dead spindle.
Options -
There are 3 different heights.
125, 175 and 225 mm.
There is hydrodynamic, universal, and
universal chucking.
